Once again, I have neglected my blog and website.
It’s been well over a year since I last posted. Once again, life got in the way, and I had to make some sacrifices in order to function like a normal human being. Unfortunately, Playing With Demons got the axe again.
So, to recap what I’ve been doing over the past year and a half-ish:
To start with, I moved again! The apartment I was living in was quickly becoming too small for me, my fiance, and my cat. I suppose you could say we’re in the nesting phase of our relationship, where we’re acquiring more furniture and electronics; plus, once I started working at home full-time, a dedicated office space was necessary. On top of that, we were having ongoing issues with bedbugs and cockroaches – one was bad enough, but with both, I was having anxiety attacks daily and panic attacks weekly. My fiance and I decided it was too much to deal with, so last September we moved an hour and a half away to Galveston.
I’ve been enjoying being on island time. The energy is much more relaxed than in Houston, and I’m within walking distance from the beach, which is nice. I’m a little bit of a homebody so I haven’t actually walked to the beach more than a handful of times, but I love driving along the seawall and watching the waves come in. My fiance and I occasionally have the opportunity to watch storms come in from the gulf.
In other news, this summer was a rough one. I lost my long-term contract with an immigration law firm, and I’ve been struggling to find consistent work since. The job market has not been great lately, and the freelance market I’m on kind of sucks regarding the projects I actually want to work on. On the plus side, that means I have more time for Playing With Demons! I will be resuming my previous schedule, posting once a week every Friday at 3:00 pm CST.
